About Nancy

Nancy Sheehan has been a licensed massage therapist for over 21 years. She founded Cranbury Therapeutic Massage in 1995 with the belief that regular massage therapy can be a powerfully relaxing and centering experience that contributes to lasting improvements in health, balance and awareness. Her clinical training and experience qualifies her as an expert in dealing with a wide variety of muscular conditions and problems. Nancy is experienced in working with a broad spectrum of clients. She will tailor each session to the individual, carefully adapting to each clients specific needs and requests.

Nancy is a graduate of International School of Massage Therapy, San Francisco, CA (Class of 1988). She received her BA in Environmental Studies from Alfred University in Alfred, NY (1979) and is also certified in Herbal Studies (California School of Herbal Studies,1985) and as an Integral Yoga Teacher (1982). Nancy has also studied Shiatsu and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Shiatsu Institute of San Francisco and certified in Traditional Thai Naud Bo Rarn Massage at the Institute of Traditional Thai Massage, Chaing Mai, Thailand. She is currently enrolled in the East West Herb School, Boulder Creek, CA and Wise Woman Herbal Healing, Woodstock, NY.

Nancy’s view of the world has also been shaped by less traditional learning experiences such as managing the produce section of a SF health food store, working as an biodynamic farmer at a community supported farm, and teaching environmental and wilderness skills at Weis Ecology Center, Ringwood, NJ and with Sierra Club's Inner City Outings, Oakland, CA.

Nancy has also traveled extensively, 82 countries so far! Some of her recent trips have been as a staff member aboard Linblad Expedition cruises to the Anctartic, the Arctic and lots of places in between. She also traveled independently to Nepal's Mt Everest base camp in Nepal and studied with His Holiness the Dali Llama in Ladahk, India. In one recent vacation, she worked as a volunteer aid worker with Mother Theresa in Calcutta. Nancy has also studied with Yogacharaya BKS Iyengar in his yoga studio in Pune, India, (1994, 2000) and with Sri K Pattabi Jois (1994) in his yoga studio in Madras, India.

Nancy keeps abreast of new theories and practices in massage therapy by studying with notable teachers in the field including Aaron Mattes, Tom Hendrickson, Paul St John, John Upledger, John Barnes, Whitney Lowe and Ben Benjamin. Her knowledge of yoga practices and teachings are illuminated by ongoing studies with Patricia Walden and Manusco Manos. Nancy also enjoys active outdoor sports such as hiking, biking and swimming. While she enjoys singing, she is the first to admit that she is unable to hold a tune!
